The Professional Development Committee has lined up four projects for year 2002. The first to be conducted is the seminar on Dac Easy, which will be held on June 14th and June 21st at a venue that will be announced later. It will be offered to Filipino accountants in Dubai and other emirates who are interested in enriching further their knowledge by learning more accounting software. The seminar will focus on the version suitable for small and medium-sized trading concern businesses.

The second activity, which will be held in July and will coincide with the celebration of the Accountancy Week, is the seminar/ training on Accounting for Non-Accountants. The project would be similar in nature to the on going teaching and training activities being conducted at the OWWA premises by various community service-oriented groups. It will cover basic bookkeeping lessons suitable for non-accountants who are being asked at their work places to prepare simple accounting reports, as well as to expatriates who are planning to set up and run their own businesses once they decide to stop working abroad.

The third and fourth projects, the seminars on Financial Statement Analysis and Letters of Credit, will be held in November. These projects are intended for accountants who would like to improve their competences on those areas of accounting and finance.

On top of the projects mentioned above, the committee would disseminate PICPA pronouncements to PICPANs and Associate Members through the space allocated for this subject in CPAG, which will be called “Professional Development Updates”.

The formidable and very much committed Professional Development Team, which is under the supervision of the Vice-President for Professional Development (Mr. Dante Herras), is composed of Mr. Mel Villar, Ms. Rosmin Jardiniano, Ms. Jinky Aguillon, Ms. Vicvic Tiangha, Mr. Jerry Lorilla, Ms. Eva Escalera and the Committee Chairman, Mr. Ed Soriano.
