Year 2002 is indeed a very busy year for PICPA Dubai Chapter. It has already completed seven activities - the three bowling events (February 22nd Fun Bowling, April 2nd Fun Bowling and the PICPA & Friends Bowling League), General Membership Meeting, Induction Rites, DacEasy Seminar and the Accountancy Week, which was celebrated with twin activities (Fun Bowling and out-of town Fellowship Gathering at Umm Al Quain). These activities are more than enough to keep the PICPANs and Associate Members very busy, but they were still able to render valuable services in some of the activities of the Filipino community.
During the Independence Day celebration at Al Nasr Leisureland, PICPA Dubai was quite visible and very much involved in many aspects of the event. Some of the members took charge of dispensing the raffle tickets, while the others served as judges and scorers of the parlor games. PICPA also handled the tabulation of the scores of the judges for the contests, as well as the independent verification and certification of the winning numbers in the raffle draws. No wonder if the organizing committee of the festivities felt secured, as to the fairness and accuracy of matters pertaining to numbers, since PICPA independently handled them.
The Dubai Filipino Bowling Club (DFBC) hosted recently the Dubai Invitational Bowling Tournament and PICPA Dubai Chapter was the official tabulator of the results. Such move was taken by DFBC to ensure that the results are transparent and are independently verified by a competent third party, a role that was fittingly performed by PICPA. And the cooperation shown by both associations sent a very positive message to the Filipino community - that associations can work together effectively instead of upstaging each other.
There are still a lot of activities outside PICPA where we can be of help. But our recent involvement in the events mentioned above manifests a strong message that PICPA Dubai is an active member of the Filipino community and is very willing to actively participate in its future endeavors.
