SECOND FUN BOWLING DAY
by Dante Herras
As a curtain raiser for the much-awaited PICPA Bowling League (April 16 thru May 28, 2002), another Fun Bowling Day was held at the Dubai Bowling Center on April 2, 2002. The overwhelming response to this event is a solid proof that PICPA is indeed very much alive and kicking. Numbers and statistics speak for themselves. Thirty-four PICPANs and friends participated, which is 112% higher than the sixteen participants during the first Fun Bowling Day on February 22nd. The turnout would have been much higher, had the others who confirmed earlier, were able to come. Some of the participants had to beg off because of unavoidable circumstances, most of them work-related (the fun day fell on a working day).
The winners:
- Champion Team - Team B - Vic Aguillon, Jinky Aguillon, George de Leon, Josie Ricalde and Evelyn Jaboni
- Highest Series (Male) - Vic Aguillon
- Highest Series (Female) - Jinky Aguillon
- Highest Game (Male) - Mar Magdaluyo
- Highest Game (Female) - Eva Escalera
The participants really enjoyed the event, as aside from the prizes awarded to the best performers, gifts were also given to the fun-seekers through raffle draws. Tabulation of scores and collection of fees were efficiently handled by Susan Flores, Sol Consulta and Ed Soriano. Cash prizes and gift items were donated by George de Leon, Redd Valdehueza, Jerry Lorilla, Benny Tamayo, Emil Dungca, Eva Escalera, Mar Magdaluyo, Robin Edralin, Sol Consulta and yours truly. Ka Emil, Al Rawabi and myself provided the snacks.
It was a fun-filled event, indeed! It was also an occasion for members who haven’t seen/ heard from each other for quite sometime, to exchange and share their recent experiences. If it was an indication of what lies ahead, then we can expect that the forthcoming PICPA Bowling League will also be a resounding success. Thank you and congratulations to all who took part in this event. Bravo!
